Rathcoffey Castle, Co Kildare, Ireland
The ruins of Rathcoffey Castle, Co Kildare, Ireland on the ridge of a small hillock taken from the adjacent road. Sadly this is as close as you get to this scheduled monument due to land access issues with the landowner. The state has guardianship rights and is responsible for the maintenance of the monument, but sadly the guardianship did not include a public right of way and pubic access has been withdrawn since a change of ownership of the land. The castle has most been replaced by the ruined mansion which is the centre of focus between the two trees. The smaller structure between the trees to the right is the gatehouse. I was drawn to the different tones and texture in the newly ploughed field in front of the castle and then used a long exposure to blur the clouds.
