Lough Bray Lower, Co Wicklow, Ireland
The twin loughs, Upper and Lower Lough Bray, were carved out of the Kippure hillside in the Wicklow Mountains many millions of year ago. The corries have near vertical back walls and are a separated by an arête known locally as Eagle's Nest. It was a bleak and windy irish landscape that I arrived to in December for sunrise. I had been hoping for some early morning light to strike the back face of the corrie. but instead had to settle for this moody winter photograph.
